What is collected

Comments require a display name, email and message. Email is private, not verified, not used for marketing and does not create a registered account. No email notifications are sent. An approximate country inferred by Cloudflare is shown with approved comments. Full IP addresses are not stored by this application. A daily salted hash of the IP is used for spam rate limits.

Moderation and retention

Comments are reviewed before publication. Do not post private financial details, identity documents, unlawful content or material you do not have permission to share. Pending and rejected comments are removed after 30 days; private email and rate-limit data are cleared after 90 days. Approved comment text remains until moderated or removed following a request. Removal retains a neutral placeholder to preserve reply context. Cleanup runs when comments are submitted or the moderation list is opened.

Statistics and service providers

Page views, link clicks, source domains and approximate location are used to understand site use. Daily hashed visitor identifiers and event details are retained for 90 days; aggregate counts remain. An optional signed cookie separates owner traffic. DNT and GPC preferences are respected by our own event script. The per-page statistics stop button affects our own statistics only, not Cloudflare’s independent analytics if enabled. Cloudflare hosts the site and provides Turnstile spam verification. Its services process connection information under Cloudflare’s own policies.

We rely on legitimate interests in providing and moderating a discussion service and preventing abuse. Providing an email is a site requirement for commenting, not a legal obligation; you can read without commenting. It is not used for marketing. Your acknowledgement confirms that you have read this notice.

Your rights and objections

You can contact the owner to request access, correction, erasure or restriction, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. We assess requests under applicable data protection rules. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about readers.
